Total Cost of Ownership Calculator for Cars
Turn fuel, insurance, maintenance, registration, parking and finance costs into one monthly, annual and 5-year ownership estimate.
What is included in this vehicle TCO estimate?
This calculator combines fuel or charging, insurance, maintenance reserve, annual registration or inspection, parking or tolls, finance or lease payments and other recurring vehicle costs. It intentionally excludes uncertain depreciation, resale value and unpredictable major repairs so the result stays a transparent cash-cost estimate.
Use the result as a planning number, not a valuation or lending quote.
How to calculate a car's total cost of ownership
For a simple cash-outflow estimate, add recurring monthly costs — fuel or charging, insurance, maintenance reserve, parking/tolls, finance or lease payment and other recurring costs — then add annual registration/inspection divided by 12. Multiply the monthly total by 12 for an annual estimate or by 60 for a five-year cash-outflow estimate.
This calculator intentionally does not estimate depreciation, resale value, unpredictable repairs or financing interest outside the payment you enter. Those require vehicle-specific assumptions and can materially change true economic ownership cost.
