Terrain Reverting, Huge Raid Spawns or Missing Achievements? Patch 1.0.16 Targets All Three.

Iron Gate's latest official Valheim patch fixes a Deep North terrain-modification regression, an issue that could create far too many enemies — especially during raids — and several achievement unlock problems.

Deep North terrain changes were reverting after unload

Patch 1.0.16 fixes a case where terrain modifications in the Deep North could revert after the area unloaded. If you previously repaired or reshaped terrain and it kept snapping back later, update before spending more time rebuilding the same ground.

Existing terrain seams may still need manual cleanup

Iron Gate says affected worlds can still show visible terrain seams. Their official note says you may need to correct those by pickaxing, using the hoe, or walking over snow. The patch prevents the regression; it does not promise every old seam disappears automatically.

Too many enemies during raids

1.0.16 fixes a bug that could cause far too many enemies to spawn, especially during raids. If a recent event felt wildly denser than expected, patch first before redesigning your entire perimeter around what may have been abnormal spawn behavior.

Achievement fixes

The patch specifically fixes cases where Child of Odin and Comfort is King were not unlocking correctly, and removes the unobtainable Blue Mushroom requirement from The Gourmet.

Crossplay remains functional during staggered rollout

Iron Gate notes that platform rollout can take a few days, but crossplay remains functional while the patch reaches all platforms. If your group has a connection problem, do not automatically treat a short platform-version delay as proof you need to rebuild the server.

What to do before the next long session

  1. Update the client/server through the normal platform path.
  2. Back up a valued world before experimenting with terrain cleanup.
  3. Re-test the exact raid or terrain behavior that was broken.
  4. Change one thing at a time instead of stacking server, mod and world edits together.
