Self-hosting saves the rental fee but moves power, restarts, backups and router/admin work onto your group.
3. Leave RAM headroom
Use the official dedicated-server guidance as the baseline and leave extra memory instead of sizing exactly to the minimum.
4. Test invite/crossplay flow first
Before a long session, confirm every platform in the group can reach the world and reconnect after a restart.
